The Biochemistry, Biophysics & Structural Biology (BBSB) Home Area at UCLA offers training and research opportunities to foster future leaders in both academia and industry. Our world-class faculty and students use cutting edge technologies to study fundamental biological processes and tackle a wide range of diseases. Many focus on interactions among proteins, nucleic acids and small molecule metabolites and drugs. Multi-disciplinary approaches include X-ray crystallography, NMR, electron microscopy, EPR, computational biology, mass spectrometry, systems biology, live-cell and single-molecule imaging. We offer vigorous but also flexible curriculum to fit your individual needs. Our training environment features close interactions with training faculty and other students. Your study will be supported by state-of-the-art facilities. The BBSB home area is a community of over 40 faculty members from academic units across campus, including the David Geffen School of Medicine and the College of Letters and Science.
